MARRIOTT CONVERSION UPDATE

MHM is excited to see progress underway at the downtown Marriott Conversion. The Marriott is a two-phase, hotel brand conversion with Blaine Construction as CM and Interior Designers Stonehill Taylor. The project includes site improvements, exterior façade and mechanical system upgrades, and a full lobby and guestroom renovation. The banquet halls on the park level will receive a full renovation as well, including an expanded ballroom space.

In addition to the hotel renovation, the public focused areas adjacent to both the Marriott and The Tennessean will get a major facelift. A new entry between the two hotels will feature local muralists’ work, while openings along the World’s Fair Park Façade will connect the renovated interior spaces to the park. Newly branded program including a local coffee shop, restaurant and gameroom, and a retail area showcasing local makers will breathe new life into the currently underutilized space.

PROGRESS CONTINUES - LHP CAPITAL

MHM is honored to be working with LHP Capital on several affordable housing renovation projects across the state of Tennessee. Two of those projects are Evergreen Villa’s located in Powel TN, and Kingsport West located in Kingsport TN.

Evergreen Villas was built in 1981 and is a single-story apartment complex for the elderly composed of 6 individual buildings containing 51 one-bedroom living units and a common community building for residents. The renovation consists of all new interior and exterior finishes along with mechanical and electrical upgrades. The new color scheme is intended to give the project a fresh, modern, look but is also an economical way to help wayfinding for the residents by making each unit more individual. The Construction Manager is Christopoulos and Kennedy.

Kingsport West was built in 1979 and is a multi-family apartment complex composed of 10 individual buildings containing 20 one-bedroom, 60 two-bedroom, and 24 three-bedroom townhouse living units and a common community building for residents. The renovation consists of all new interior and exterior finishes along with mechanical and electrical upgrades. Several units are receiving ADA/UFAS upgrades to meet the needs of residents with mobility, sight, and hearing issues, and a new ADA compliant playground is being added for use by the children of the residents. The CM on the project is Blaine Construction.

MHM’S EMERGING PROFESSIONALS RECOGNIZED BY AIA EAST TENNESSEE

We are pleased to announce that MHM’s Emerging Professionals were recognized at the recent Design Gala held by AIA East Tennessee. The Living Lattice project took home the Citation Award in the Emerging Professionals category.

The project was a design/build/engage/grow initiative for Park(ing) Day Knox displayed temporarily on Gay St. in downtown Knoxville, and later permanently installed at Beardsley Community Farm in North Knoxville. The project team collaborated with Blaine Construction and two local nonprofit organizations, Keep Knoxville Beautiful (KKB) and Beardsley Community Farm. Based on our partners’ visions, goals were established to create a sustainable, reusable, and educational structure that would support the Beardsley Farm mission when relocated to its final home.

KNOXVILLE CHAMBER PREMIER PARTNER EVENT
