MHM’S EMERGING PROFESSIONALS RECOGNIZED BY AIA EAST TENNESSEE

We are pleased to announce that MHM’s Emerging Professionals were recognized at the recent Design Gala held by AIA East Tennessee. The Living Lattice project took home the Citation Award in the Emerging Professionals category.

The project was a design/build/engage/grow initiative for Park(ing) Day Knox displayed temporarily on Gay St. in downtown Knoxville, and later permanently installed at Beardsley Community Farm in North Knoxville. The project team collaborated with Blaine Construction and two local nonprofit organizations, Keep Knoxville Beautiful (KKB) and Beardsley Community Farm. Based on our partners’ visions, goals were established to create a sustainable, reusable, and educational structure that would support the Beardsley Farm mission when relocated to its final home. 

MHM PROJECTS UP FOR AIA EAST TENNESSEE AWARDS

We’ll be tuning in live to see which projects take home prizes at the 2020 AIA East Tennessee Online Awards Gala. Several of our exciting projects are up for this year’s awards: The KUB Engineering Building, The New UT Student Union, Blackberry Farm Brewery, The Living Lattice, Tusculum Family Physicians and The Ken & Blaire Mossman Science Building. We are honored to be a part of this celebration of design excellence, individual achievements, and fellowship in our East Tennessee Design Community!

APRIL IN KNOXVILLE IS [KNOXVILLE] BY DESIGN

AIA East Tennessee, chaired by MHM’s Design Director, Richard Foster, invites you to join them to celebrate the importance of architecture and the power of design in creating the places that give shape to our stories, our lives, and our communities.

AIA EAST TENNESSEE DESIGN AWARDS

We are pleased to announce that two MHM projects won awards at the recent Design Gala held by AIAETN. The Greater Knoxville Dermatology project won a Citation Award in the Emerging Professionals category. The jury cited the building as “handsomely balanced, simple and inviting,” and “open, clear and comforting, with generous amounts of natural light.”  MHM’s own Office Renovation won a Citation Award as well. The jury appreciated the “well-articulated” space and noted that “carefully considered, commonsense decisions have transformed a dreary, cluttered rabbit’s warren of offices into a bright, optimistic open space for collaborative creativity.” The MHM team won the plaque design competition held by the organization as well to be placed in future award-winning buildings.

Elkmont wins AIA East Tennessee Honor Award

MHM was delighted to receive the prestigious Honor Award for their work on Elkmont Exchange Brewery & Eating House at the annual AIA East Tennessee Design Awards Gala! The dynamic facade of the new brew pub acts as a symbol of new life for this quickly emerging, progressive neighborhood. Congrats team!
