affordable housing

PROGRESS CONTINUES - LHP CAPITAL

MHM is honored to be working with LHP Capital on several affordable housing renovation projects across the state of Tennessee. Two of those projects are Evergreen Villa’s located in Powel TN, and Kingsport West located in Kingsport TN.

Evergreen Villas was built in 1981 and is a single-story apartment complex for the elderly composed of 6 individual buildings containing 51 one-bedroom living units and a common community building for residents. The renovation consists of all new interior and exterior finishes along with mechanical and electrical upgrades. The new color scheme is intended to give the project a fresh, modern, look but is also an economical way to help wayfinding for the residents by making each unit more individual. The Construction Manager is Christopoulos and Kennedy.

Kingsport West was built in 1979 and is a multi-family apartment complex composed of 10 individual buildings containing 20 one-bedroom, 60 two-bedroom, and 24 three-bedroom townhouse living units and a common community building for residents. The renovation consists of all new interior and exterior finishes along with mechanical and electrical upgrades. Several units are receiving ADA/UFAS upgrades to meet the needs of residents with mobility, sight, and hearing issues, and a new ADA compliant playground is being added for use by the children of the residents. The CM on the project is Blaine Construction.

MHM is currently working with the Murfreesboro Housing Association on a new masterplan for the affordable housing development, Oakland Court. This new community will replace the 74 residences that currently reside on the property with 150 new homes. Through a series of Public Interest and Stakeholder sessions, the design team has been gathering feedback from current residents, surrounding neighbors, and community members to create a neighborhood that addresses needs such as safety, greenspace, gardening, walkability, and public transportation access.
