PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church partnered with MHM Architects + Interior Designers to expand and repurpose its Family Life Center, enhancing both functionality and connectivity. Originally a two-story gymnasium and a one-story classroom building linked by a central atrium, the facility required thoughtful reconfiguration to support the church’s growing needs.
MHM recommended replacing the one-story classroom building with a larger two-story addition, improving circulation with an added elevator and two elevated walkways connecting the upper levels. The expansion includes 10 classrooms, office space, and a workroom for the K-5 program staff, with new check-in kiosks in the atrium.
Updates to the gymnasium building include refreshed finishes, upgraded lighting, ADA-compliant restrooms, new bleachers, and a motorized divider curtain for flexible sports programming.
